The Governors are the strategic leaders of our school and have a vital role in making sure every child gets the best possible education. The main functions are:
- ensuring strategic direction;
- holding the Co-Head Teachers to account for the education performance of the school and the performance management of staff;
- overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure it’s money is well spent.

Mr Guy Le Geyt – Chair of Governors
Hello! My name is Guy Le Geyt and I have been a school governor since 2018 and the Chair of Governor’s since 2019 . I live in Askham with my partner Helen and our 3 children who have and do attend East Markham Primary School. I am a Chartered Engineer and work at a local power station as the Station Director. I am passionate about leading the Governing Body and working with the school’s senior leadership team to continue to improve and drive standards.
Mrs N Hutchinson – Parent Governor (Vice Chair)
Hello, I’m Nicola Hutchinson. I am Vice Chair of the Governing Body and I take the lead on finances. I live locally and my son previously attended East Markham Primary School. In my day job I’m Director of a nature charity and trustee of an environmental campaign coalition. By being a School Governor I hope to support the school achieve its aims of broadening the experiences and opportunities for our children.
Mrs D Abbott – Co-opted Governor
Hello! My name is Dee Abbott, and I am delighted to be part of the East Markham school community. I live in the village and have strong ties to the school, with my grandson having attended in previous years. I am an active member of the Markham Players, and you’ll often find me either on stage or supporting local events. In school, I enjoy listening to readers each week (and have done for more than 9 years!) and helping on school trips whenever I’m needed. In my working life, I had a number of varied roles which offered me a wealth of understanding and experience. I’m passionate about encouraging children’s confidence and creativity and love being involved in the everyday life of the school.
Mrs S Hallam – LA Governor
Hello, I’m Shelley Hallam. I live in East Markham with my family. I joined the Governing Body to use my experience and skill set to support the staff and children of East Markham Primary School. In my day job I’m a Learning and Development Consultant and Coach. By being a School Governor I hope to support the school’s senior leadership team as they strive achieve excellence.
Mr S Knottenbelt – Co-opted Governor
Hi, I’m Scott Knottenbelt, I became a governor in November 2020. My family and I live in East Markham village and both my son and daughter attend East Markham Primary School. I’m driven to help and encourage the senior leadership in my role with the governing body to help make the school the best it can be. I am a farm manager working locally and also further afield in the county, I hope to utilise my skills and knowledge to achieve the schools goals and vision.
Mrs M Agosto – Parent Governor
Hi, my name is Melissa Agosto and I have been a parent governor at East Markham since December 2022. I live in the village with my family and both of my children attend the school. I am a science teacher in a local secondary school and as a governor I can offer my support and experience is a range of areas including curriculum development, assessment and staff development and mentoring. I am passionate about all children receiving the best education and experience possible and want to support the school in their vision to ensure all students are happy and successful learners.
Mrs A Duckmanton – Parent Governor + Safeguarding Link Governor
Hi, I’m Amy, a Parent Governor here at East Markham Primary, where both of my children are proud to be part of the school community. I also take on the role of Link Governor for Safeguarding. I’ve worked in children and young people’s safeguarding within various roles for over 15 years and currently work for Nottinghamshire County Council. I am passionate about making sure all our pupils feel safe, supported, and happy at school. I’m excited to be part of the team helping the school grow and thrive.
Mrs J Crutchley – Co-opted Governor
Hi, my name is Jo Critchley and I am proud to support the East Markham school community. I am an active member of the Markham Players, where I enjoy both writing and directing productions, and I love bringing that creativity into school by working with the children whenever I can. I have extensive knowledge and experience in SEND and work closely with the leadership team to help ensure that the provision and support for our learners is the very best it can be. I’m passionate about inclusion, creativity, and helping all children thrive.
Mrs L Hopkinson – Staff Governor
My name is Lucy Hopkinson and I am a teacher at the school. I am extremely passionate about helping children to thrive in all areas of their learning and I am always looking for new and exciting ways to raise engagement levels. I am looking forward to working with the governing body to help the children and staff members to strive to be the best that they can be.
